Position Title: Accounting Manager

Reports to: Director of Accounting

Location: Austin, TX and/or Remote

POSITION SCOPE:

The Accounting Manager will collaborate cross-functionally across sales, supply chain, operations, and finance to provide analysis and key financial insights through the ownership of key accounting operations. This individual will also assist the Director of Accounting in special projects such as audits, tax, and system implementations and automation. For the right person, this dynamic and fast paced environment checks all the boxes of supporting a mission-based company with an opportunity to develop professionally.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Take ownership of month-end and year-end close processes, including the preparation and review of journal entries, account reconciliations, and resolving discrepancies related to revenue recognition and COGS reporting
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to integrate accounting policies and procedures into various business functions; identifying areas for improvement and automation
  • Create and manage financial reporting across a variety of accounting and finance areas
  • Manage inventory reconciliations across 3PLs, warehouses, and processors, researching and resolving discrepancies
  • Collaborate with supply chain and operations to ensure accurate inventory and COGS valuation and reporting
  • Develop trade and deductions playbook and related processes with sales and operations as well as external partners
  • Train and review work produced by team members
  • Play a key supporting role in the planning, coordination, and execution of annual compliance audits, tax return preparation, and investor relationship communication
  • Document key accounting standard operating processes and assist in drafting accounting policies
  • Coach and develop team members across accounting, supply chain, and operations
  • Assist with payroll and benefits administration for a multi-state payroll
  • Maintain strong internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure data integrity
  • Assist in ad hoc tax, compliance, automation, and data projects

EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 4 years employment experience in Accounting is mandatory
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting from a four-year college or university
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred
  • CPG experience preferred
  • Supervisory experience preferred

  • Travel required
  • Must be able to read and interpret recipes, numbers on scales, perform basic math and judge color, consistency, placement of materials for quality control
  • Must be able to occasionally lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand, squat, bend, twist, reach, walk, or lean for entirety of shift.

PROFICIENCIES:

  • QuickBooks Online, Cin7, Shopify, Bill.com, and customer order management solutions
  • Strong in Microsoft Excel and Word, Slack
  • Process planning, Project Management and Inventory Management
