Frequently Asked Questions
Regenerative Agriculture + Our Standards
What is regenerative agriculture?
Regenerative agriculture begins with soil — because soil is what’s being regenerated. You might think of the substance beneath your feet as dirt, but not all dirt is soil. The difference is life. Soil is alive, teeming with microbes and minerals that make plants grow strong and nutrient-dense. Dirt, by contrast, is what remains when that life has been stripped away. It can no longer nourish plants on its own, so most farming depends on chemical inputs to take its place — fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides.
Healthy soil doesn’t need those shortcuts because it naturally grows grass that is better for the animals — ultimately creating meat that is better for you.
Healthy soil → healthy pastures → healthy animals = healthier you.
Even better? It creates habitat for wildlife, holds more water in the soil and below ground, and captures carbon, methane, and nitrogen from the atmosphere.
At Force of Nature, we see regenerative agriculture as more than farming — it’s a way of creating better health at every level: for the planet, for animals, and for you.
Does regenerative meat mean that it was grown in a lab?
The word ‘regenerative’ can sound abstract, like we’re talking about a science experiment, but it’s actually really simple: it means working with nature to rebuild — or regenerate — soil. Soil is the opposite of a sterile lab devoid of life. There are actually over 1 billion microorganisms in a single teaspoon of soil. And animal impact — hooves pressing seeds into the ground, manure and urine fertilizing the soil along with pecking and scratching — opens up space for more life. All of this animal activity feeds soil microbes, strengthens roots, and captures carbon and other gases from the atmosphere. The result? More soil, more life, and meat that’s more nutrient-dense.
Why is regenerative agriculture better for me?
Regenerative agriculture begins in the soil — and so does our nutrition. Healthy soil grows more nutrient-rich grasses, which in turn nourish the animals our ranchers raise. This means the meat you are consuming is better for you because it is more nutrient-dense with healthier fats.
Why is regenerative agriculture better for the planet?
Regenerative agriculture begins with soil. Soil isn’t just dirt under our feet — it’s alive, working in partnership with plants and animals to make a healthy planet. Plants capture carbon and other gases from the air, turning them into sugars with the help of the sun (photosynthesis), and then trade those sugars for nutrients from the soil. Animals play their part too: hooves press seeds into the ground, and fertilize the earth with manure and urine, creating more life in the soil. As soil health improves, it stores more things like carbon, holds more water, grows more plants, and welcomes more wildlife back into the ecosystem.
What’s the difference between regenerative and grass-fed?
Not all “grass-fed” is created equal. Just because an animal ate grass doesn’t mean it lived a good life — or grazed on healthy pastures its whole life. In fact, “grass” can mean hay fed in a feedlot, and those animals can still carry the grass-fed label. Even cattle on open land aren’t always roaming diverse, thriving grasslands.
At Force of Nature, we raise the bar. Our animals enjoy true freedom to move and graze on vibrant, living pastures — regeneratively managed landscapes that restore the earth and nourish the animal. The result? Meat that’s better in every way — for you, the animal, and the planet.
What’s the difference between Force of Nature’s standards and organic?
Certifications can be costly for ranchers and don’t always guarantee the highest standards for animal welfare or land health. Instead, we focus on what matters: animals with unrestricted access to thriving, chemical-free pastures. And we go beyond the pasture, testing our supply chain for both contaminants and nutrient density. For us, it’s never about checking a box — it’s about delivering the outcomes that matter to you.
Our Animals
What do you feed your animals?
Our bison and beef products are 100% grass-fed and grass-finished animals. No grains — ever. And no feedlots, ever.
Our chickens' diet consists of 100% Certified Organic feed, supplemented by the diversity of pasture forages — including berries, nuts, insects, and native grasses. The Certified Organic feed contains corn and soy and is free from GMOs, pesticides, and synthetic additives.
Our elk and venison are grass-fed and pasture-raised. They are out grazing on rich and diverse pastures. Additionally, up to 5% of their diet may include a mix of maize, oats, barley, triticale, rye corn, and palm kernel extract — all from non-GMO sources. And like our bison and beef, these animals never come near a feedlot.
Do your animals receive vaccines?
Sometimes. Vaccine use depends on the species, the region, and even state regulations — some are required by law, others are only used if local conditions make them necessary. Ranchers have every reason to keep use to a minimum, since no one wants extra cost or stress for their animals unless it truly protects their health. When vaccines are used, we make sure they align with our standards and values, always keeping animal wellbeing at the center of every decision.
We know there’s been a lot of concern and conversation about mRNA vaccine use in livestock. Rest assured, these vaccines are never used in our livestock.
Why is regenerative agriculture better for the animal?
At Force of Nature we believe animals deserve to live rich, full lives — just like us — and should never be in confinement of any kind, ever. This means no feedlots or confinement barns. Our animals are truly free to roam year round with unrestricted access to diverse, living, and healthy pastures. This means that the pastures they’re eating are better for them — ultimately, creating meat that is better for you.
Do your animals ever go to feedlots?
Never.
Where does your meat come from?
Our mission at Force of Nature is to have over 1 billion acres managed regeneratively. This is a big goal and big goals mean working with partners who share our values across the globe. We partner with farmers and ranchers who practice regenerative agriculture, and these relationships are at the heart of what we do. While the vast majority of our partners are in the U.S., our network of partners spans across the U.S., Canada, New Zealand, and Australia, working together with Force of Nature to make agriculture something we’re proud to leave for the next generation.
Are your meats free from antibiotics, hormones, and GMOs?
Absolutely. Not only are our meats free from antibiotics, hormones, and GMOs but we regularly test our supply chain for antibiotic residues, going a step beyond many certification programs to ensure that we’re bringing you the most nutrient-dense and chemical-free meat on the planet.
How are the animals slaughtered?
All of our animals are processed in USDA-inspected facilities, often with small regional processors who prioritize animal welfare. The process is designed to be as calm and stress-free as possible. Animals are first rendered unconscious — usually with a quick, controlled stun — and then bled out. It is a quick and controlled process. For us, honoring the animal doesn’t end in the pasture — it continues through the final moments of their life ensuring it’s carried out with dignity and care.
Products
Do your products contain allergens?
All ingredients are clearly listed on every package and on each product page online. Our products are prepared in third-party facilities that follow strict USDA regulations. These facilities maintain rigorous segregation and sanitation practices to minimize any risk of cross-contamination with the “Big 9” allergens.
Because we are USDA-regulated, we are not permitted to use “may contain” disclaimers. Instead, a USDA inspector is present onsite for every production run, ensuring these processes are upheld to the highest standard.
Is frozen meat just as good as fresh?
Absolutely. Frozen meat is preserved at peak freshness. Even better? Freezing meat can actually increase tenderness, because of how moisture expands in the cell when the muscle fibers are frozen. Our meat is safe to consume up to 21 days from when it was thawed and a whole year frozen!
What are ancestral blends?
Our Ancestral Blends are ground meat supercharged with liver and heart, delivering incredible flavor and serious nutritional benefits from organ meats. They look, feel, and taste remarkably similar to regular ground meat. The difference? They’re packed with even more nutrients that support energy, muscle, focus, hormones, and mood — think B12, creatine, collagen, iron, zinc, and more. These aren’t just another protein, they’re an effortless upgrade to your health that’s quick and easy to cook.
General
One of my packages is torn, what should I do?
Because we ship with dry ice, there are rare occasions when a package may come into direct contact with it, causing it to crack or break. Rest assured, since the product remains frozen, it is still safe to enjoy. We simply recommend thawing with extra care — placing the package inside a sealed bag or a bowl in the fridge will help prevent any leaking.
If you’d prefer not to consume the item, please reach out to our customer service team and we’ll be happy to make it right.
My order arrived thawed or partially thawed. Is it still safe to eat?
If your order arrives and is partially thawed, that’s normal! As long as the temperature of the meat is below 40 degrees, the meat can be placed back in the freezer or directly into the refrigerator and will be ready to eat. Unfortunately, things can happen during transit that are out of our control — if items are 100% thawed, warm, or above 40 degrees upon arrival, please contact us and we will happily make things right.

What is a Letter of Medical Necessity, and how is this compliant?
The items in your Truemed Letter of Medical Necessity (“LMN”) are now qualified medical expenses in the same way a visit to the doctor’s office or pharmaceutical product is.
There are thousands of studies showing food and exercise is often the best medicine to prevent and reverse disease. Quality meat qualifies as a medical expense if it treats or prevent an illness, and a doctor substantiates the need. Your Truemed LMN satisfies all IRS requirements to make your wellness spend fully reimbursable.
How long does it take for me to receive my Letter of Medical Necessity?
Generally it takes 24-48 hours. In some cases, Truemed’s provider team will require additional time to issue a letter of medical necessity based on the needs associated with an individual qualification survey. If you aren’t seeing your letter in your inbox, check spam, then reach out to us at support@truemed.com for help.
What if i'm not eligible?
If you're not eligible, you can still complete your purchase using a regular credit or debit card. Your order will not be processed through HSA/FSA funds, but you’ll still be able to buy the product or service directly.
When should I use my FSA/HSA dollars?
You can use your HSA/FSA dollars all year long. However, FSA dollars expire at the end of the year and unused money may not rollover into the next year. Make sure to spend the rest of your FSA dollars before December 31st — use it, so you don’t lose it!
I don’t have an HSA/FSA. Can I still benefit from Truemed?
Unfortunately, Truemed’s services are for individuals who have HSA or FSA accounts (or plan to fund one during open enrollment). We encourage you to ask your employer about information on your HSA or FSA!

Unfortunately, Truemed is currently only available in the United States.
