Position Title: Director of Operations and Supply Chain
Reports To: VP of Supply Chain
Start Date: TBD
Location: Austin, TX or remote in US
Company Profile
Force of Nature is a champion for regenerative agriculture and wildlife conservation. We are committed to educating consumers that animal agriculture, when managed in a manner that emulates the diverse harmony in nature, improves welfare, creates the most nutrient-dense food available, and produces a positive return on the planet. We exist to provide consumers with the opportunity to vote for environmental regeneration through their purchasing power of fresh/frozen meat and to reclaim the legacy of meat. At a time when industrialized and commoditized conventional agriculture is wreaking devastation, and many false prophets are generating headlines with lab-based or highly processed alternatives that are no better for you or the environment, we are here to prove that nature got it right. We invite you to participate in this regenerative revolution. There is no doubt that together, we can heal our environment, restore our health, and end the agricultural system that is depleting our natural resources.
Position Scope
The Director of Operations and Supply Chain will own our end-to-end supply chain and production operations, drive our co-packer strategy across multiple channels, and build the systems and processes that allow us to scale efficiently without compromising on quality, traceability, or our regenerative mission. This is a high-impact, cross-functional leadership role for someone who thrives at the intersection of strategy and execution.
The ideal candidate will bring deep experience in co-packer relationships, continuous improvement, and meat operations, with the ability to translate insights into actionable plans that drive growth, efficiency, and profitability.
Major Responsibilities
Operations Strategy & Leadership
- Help define and execute the company's operational strategy in alignment with our mission.
- Build scalable infrastructure — processes, tools, etc. — to support simultaneous growth across multiple channels.
- Serve as the operational voice in cross-functional leadership discussions, partnering closely with sales, finance, and marketing.
- Manage and develop team to drive performance against priorities and goals.
- Drive operations leadership within the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) process, holding the team accountable for operational readiness and flawless execution.
Co-Packer & Supply Chain Management
- Own co-packer relationships at the strategic level: lead selection, onboarding, contract negotiation, and ongoing partnership development. Set performance standards and hold co-packers accountable to terms, addressing and escalating issues surfaced by the Operations Execution Lead.
- Review co-packer performance data surfaced by the Operations Execution Lead and drive accountability on KPIs such as yield, overpack, adherence to schedule commitments, timely communication, etc.
- Develop a diversified co-packer strategy to reduce concentration risk and support expansion.
Process & Systems Improvement
- Lead a continuous improvement mindset across the operations function by creating a reporting, data, and analytics framework to identify and eliminate bottlenecks, redundancies, and inefficiencies.
- Evaluate, implement, and optimize operational systems (ERP, inventory management, order management) to improve data integrity and reduce manual work.
- Set the standard for standard operating procedures (SOPs) that enable the team to operate consistently and scale effectively.
- Leverage AI and data to drive root cause analysis on operational failures — quality issues, late shipments, cost overruns — and implement durable fixes.
Other
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, Engineering, or related field.
- 10+ years of operations experience, including at least 3 years in a senior or director-level role in meat, CPG, or a related industry.
- Direct experience managing co-packers or contract manufacturers, including commercial negotiations and performance accountability.
Skills & Competencies
- Continuous improvement mindset — have stood up processes and systems from scratch and know how to prioritize when resources are limited.
- Highly analytical, comfortable with data, and able to translate operational metrics into clear insights and decisions.
- Ability to leverage AI tools to drive efficiencies, create reporting, and glean industry and performance insights.
- Communicate exceptionally well, both within a team and with external partners, and know how to influence without authority.
- Familiarity with ERP or inventory management platforms (e.g., Cin7, NetSuite) is a plus.
- Ability to operate at both strategic and tactical levels.
- Proven ability to work independently as well as collaboratively; highly adaptable and resourceful.
- Demonstrated ability to excel in a hands-on, fast-paced entrepreneurial environment.
- Passion for an active health and wellness lifestyle.
- Must have the ability to be successful in conditions which include multiple and sometimes conflicting priorities, extended work schedules, and demanding deadlines.
- Ability to proactively execute on opportunities to add value while being scrappy in a start-up environment.
